The Downtown Los Angeles Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League was founded in 1929 and is one of oldest civil rights groups in the United States. This nonprofit group is committed toward helping improve the quality of life for others with various community events including organizing the annual Woman of the Year event in Los Angeles, and providing a scholarship for economically challenged youth who live near the skid row area of Los Angeles. | ||
