This is the age of materialism. The developed nations pressurize the weaker countries and the mighty rule the poor people. Most of the people strive hard for increasing their material gains. The thirst of money entices hearts, enslaves ambitions and corrupts morals. Majority of the world population suffer an uphill task of overcoming the issues of food, clothing and shelter.
The birth of a child generally is a cause for celebration in all civilizations. Most of the poor parents cannot afford to send their children to school and to prepare them for a competitive world. Children have their fundamental rights which are being exploited almost in every part of the world. Pressurized labor, bonded labor, forced labor, and child labor are very common terms which are being used in the world of today. Child labor is the out come of socio-economic problem and is on the peak from domestic servants to the risky places. Integrated socio-economic strategy such as free and compulsory education and pragmatic steps for eradication of poverty are highly required. Poverty may be a result of child exploitation but a solution also exists. The government can hold umbrella for children from fiery hails of child exploiters.
In major cases children find themselves in unbearable condition. They see unhygienic condition, bad health and sanitation and illiteracy. A large number of children do not start their morning with preparation for going to the school. In urban regions, child labor is common as roaming among garbage, trash-pickers and found peering into waste-bins. The situation is more deplorable in rural regions where the poverty stricken families have to make their children share the burden of whole family. Many of children have to work in fields. For the provision of cheaper and faithful labor teenagers are more preferred over the adults. Child labor can be seen in tea houses, service stations, hotels; carpet industries and motor workshops etc. Helpless parents forced by poverty and unbearable hunger send their children to carpet manufactures, motor workshops and kiln-owners. These employed children are paid little and often badly beaten by their employers. Many children can be found suffering from respiratory and eye diseases who are employed in tanneries and many other hazardous industries. Law enforcing agencies should take steps for the eradication of these deplorable offences.
Majority of the employers prefer child labor because it is cheap and children are usually found sincere in their work and do the work efficiently. Children are easily controllable by the employers and they find little chances of agitation from child workers. Child labor is one of the major causes of poverty. A large number of children are living in inhuman conditions, particularly those who are working in tannery and carpet industries.
If the problem of child labor is not resolved today, it may lead to social destruction, increased illiteracy rate and more poverty among children. The main thing is to evolve a comprehensive and integrated strategy involving issues of health, education, population planning sectors to cope the challenge. Child is offspring of man and it is pity that he is being exploited, suppressed and depressed by the cruel employers.
